Leaving the Conversation

9 Dec

We have been talking a lot about networking lately. I stumbled across a great article from The Wall Street Journal, A Conversation Exit Plan.

With Holiday Parties aplenty, it’s important to have an exit strategy. Let’s face it, ending a conversation can be awkward.

Enjoy these tips!

Denver Marriott City Center Review

6 Nov

I recently traveled to Denver and stayed at the Denver Marriott City Center! It was great location close to the Convention Center and the 16th Street Mall. The lobby was well appointed and the staff was friendly. The room was a standard Marriott room with nothing standing out. The bathrooms could use a little updating. I will say the hotel needs to work on a better air conditioning system. It was so loud, at times, it woke me out of my sleep.

I am a Gold Level Status Member and receive access to to the Concierge Lounge. The staff and the food offerings were tremendous. Every night we were treated to great appetizers and dessert. One night was fajitas, another night was shrimp jumbo, Mac & Cheese, and a delicious assortment of meat and cheese. It was beyond any other experience, I complimented the manager that they had one of the best lounges I had been too.

The onsite restaurant was nice for a quick bite I found the food to be lackluster and lacking flavor. The do have a courtesy shuttle that wiill take you within 2 miles of the hotel. I utilized it and it was great perk.

I would certainly stay here again if I ventured back to Denver.

5 Things To Remember at Networking Events

11 Oct

Hi Chicks!

I have been attending a ton of networking events lately. I am trying to get myself to as many  as possible. They have ranged from political events,to trade association events, and young professional events. My philosophy is you never know who you are going to meet and what opportunity will come from a hand shake.  Her are 5 things to do at Networking Events.

  1. Make a plan- Some networking events release their attendees prior to the event. Scan the list and identify who you would like to speak with that day. If you go in blind, try scanning the guest list at check-in and work from there.
  2. Manage Your Time- Be aware of your time and maximize it. Do your best to talk to as many people as possible. Don’t make them feel rushed, but when you notice you are running out of things to say, move on.
  3. Make yourself memorable- When you get asked the age old question, “what do you do?” You should day “I bring quality health care products to doctors!” Not I am a medical sales person. Or “I create strategic partnerships between brands and sporting/lifestyle event.” Not I am in sponsorship sales.
  4. Limit Your Alcohol Intake- Limit yourself to one or two drinks, no more! There is nothing worse than being the sloppiest person in the room. It also gives a bad impression. Do you want to do business with the guy/gal slurring their words?
  5. Bring lots of business cards- Make sure you have tons of business cards and a pen. Early in my career I went to a networking event and didn’t bring enough. How embarrassing! The pen is useful for taking note on the back of the card of a potential connection. For example: “Worked with Jim Smith at XYZ Company in the past”

Finally, also remember to enjoy your time and meeting new people.

Until next time

XOXO

Confidence

25 Jul

Hey Chicks!

A key component to sales is confidence! Make sure you go into every sales with confidence in yourself and your products or services.  You will find that it gets stronger the more you use it!

Early Risers

22 May

Are you an early riser? Most people would say,no!

For the past month I have been working hard to get up at or before 6:00am.  I have found that it allows me to free up an exponential amount of time in my day!  Somedays I excerise, others I pay bills, catch up on personal and work emails, cook, mediate and more! By breakfast, I feel accomplished and less anxious about my day!

Take a five day challenge and wake up earlier! See how it changes your life!
